A gamer with no game

July 1, 2018

This week from the

Paradox Gaming Network

So this turned out to be a horrible week for me.   My brand new gazebo was made so poorly that the steel bend and shifted and the thing totally collapsed.  Luckily nothing else was damaged, but it is still annoying to buy a product only to have it be destroyed in 8 days.  Now I’m fighting with the company and Amazon since they sold substandard steel, because I’m going to be totally honest, steel should not bend.  Sure, sometimes you get a defective piece, or a bad weld, but of the say 30 pieces of steel in this gazebo kit, 22 or more of them bent, twisted or in some other way were defective.

Plus, I managed to get sick in the middle of the summer so my week has sort of sucked.  Getting in the way of the things I want to do, but you know how it goes, the best laid plans of mice and men.

Summer Motivation Challenge

Even being sick I managed to keep up most of my commitment to fitness.  I ended up running 6.5 miles and walking 3.6, which is just about where I want to be.  Little short on the amount of time I spent running, but my speed is getting faster which is what I really want.  I’m also at that point where I’m not losing weight but I’m losing inches. That’s the point you get to and you just want to quit because you don’t see numerical progress on the scale in fact you sometimes see the weight go the other way a few times.  It is all worth it though when you can fit into the next smaller size of pants.

Almost want to just uninstall

I kept jumping into Bless this week in order to work on the taming video I did.  Taming is one of the best aspects of Bless and while pretty straightforward there are a couple of bits and pieces that take some knowledge.   You can check that video here https://youtu.be/IHlw0doaQeE

Now I almost want to just uninstall the game due to the stupidity of Neowiz and what they are going to do.  While I was more that willing to give them an A for effort for the first several SNAFUs they had with launch, the fact they just do not learn from their mistakes proves to me that they pretty much were going for a Steam release for a cash grab and they will slowly roll out content and limp towards a non “early access” release.

Bless is all but dead.  Their 24 hour high is now under 6,000 people which puts them at under 100,000 monthly income from subscriptions so I think we can pull out the hammer and the nails and call this one over.

The problem is this game isn’t fun for a casual player and there is very limited solo content to do beyond gathering pets and mounts.

Radio Silence Continues...expected news this week

Intrepid is still under radio silence as they reach their next milestone.  I am expecting something this week from them and as soon as I have it, I will turn it into a video and get it out to you.

If you are interested in Ashes of Creation, I’m going to shamelessly ask that you register for the game using my referral link (https://www.ashesofcreation.com/ref/Jahlon/)

The reason why is that I will get 15% of all your purchases back, which will give me a bigger pool of money to do giveaways with.   This is quite literally the simplest way to support Paradox. Costs you nothing above and beyond what you pay to the game (sub fee, cash shop purchases, etc) anyway.

Since I didn’t do a video this week, I want to keep the transparency open, the Paradox Gaming Network is up to 105 referrals for Ashes with $204.75 in the kitty, with a couple of outstanding tickets to get cleared up.   So thank you to everyone for all the support.

Really Happy for Dynamight Studios

First things first, big thanks to Dynamight Studios.   I won an Ambassador drawing for the video I did last week which is a quite 2,000 Foundation Points added onto my total.  That’s pretty sweet in that they just literally gave me cash shop currency since it bumped me up so much. You can check that video out on YouTube or on my homepage or the link to it is right here:  https://youtu.be/49yHihcQdCk

I’m really happy for these guys as they have been able to gather up about 42% of the funds they requested on kickstarter.  They didn’t come out asking for millions, they asked for 100,000 Euro ($117,035 USD) which is interesting because clearly they won’t be able to finish the game on that amount of money, so it begs the question of what their development timeline is.

Either way, I’m happy they are seeing success on their product.  Fractured looks like it's going to be an interesting game when it hits the market, if it can avoid all the pitfall its peers have stumbled into.

For the time being if you haven't checked out Fractured, I again shamelessly invite you to do so via my referral link:

Camelot Unchained Beta

Going to be skipping Beta 1

I’ve decided to take a pass on the Camelot Unchained Beta.  The major reason is that given the way they want to do the testing, they want to have limited windows open for testing.

In order for me to maximize the content delivery that means I’d have to have everything I wanted to do scheduled around their Beta schedule.  For me, that’s going to just take all the fun out of it. So I’ve decided that I’m going to wait until they have persistent Beta’s up and going.

Project Zomboid

The Eve Online of Zombie Games

So everyone who knows me knows I’m a fan of the complexity of Eve Online.  I think it is by far the most complicated game I’ve ever seen. Last week when I was streaming I had a chance to play some Project Zomboid.

I could go into a lot of details on the game and I will as I have time this week, but for the moment I’m going to direct you the recap of my livestream here: https://youtu.be/-PVfqGuBkyU

 Gaming Network News

The June Giveaway for a $10 Amazon Gift Card or an Apex is up and running on Google Forms at: https://goo.gl/forms/GFslnNZoxaBcRzvS2

This giveaway ends at 2359 EST on July 5.

Maintaining the Pace

This was the first month that we’ve seen a decrease in views or minutes watched in comparison to the same month of the previous year.  While we have continued to maintain the pace towards for the year, it has been rough with no real content to work on.

I’m hoping to find something to settle into for the rest of the year.  With Bless being a failure, Camelot Unchained having weird hours, I’m going to be looking into Warlords Awakening or Ashes in Quarter 4.

My show is like Cheers...everyone knows your name

Still loving my show, just need to find a game to dive into.

Thanks to everyone who showed up this week.  Continued support for the show is really appreciated.  I started streaming with Archeage, and now I don’t have a game to stream on regular basis.  When I find a game to make videos on, it will be the same one I stream on a regular basis.

Join us Wednesdays at 2100 EDT and Fridays at 1300 EDT.

Big thank you to all my former Patrons as they move on to their new projects and continued appreciation for the Patrons who continue to support the Paradox Gaming Network.

My goal for July is to rework the site a little bit to coincide with the goals for the back half of 2018.
