Not the best of weeks in Paradox Land. First and foremost, plague has struck the office.
Boccaccio said that victims of the bubonic plague in Italy “ate lunch with their friends and dinner with their ancestors in paradise” and let me tell you that while we didn’t have the actual plague running around, it was enough to knock me and my Level 12 and my Level 4 Apprentice on our collective asses. I give the 12 year old mad kudos; it takes a special kind of special to get influenza but still get up out of bed and go to school the half-day required to tryout for volleyball.
As if illness wasn’t enough, one of the two new machines for the office decided that it wanted to just say “HAHAHAHA” and require a reformat. Usually at this point I would have returned it to HP, but given that it will take like 5 days for them to get ready to ship it, then 5 days shipping, 14-21 days in the ship, 5 days to ship back, I’d rather just see if a quick factory restore will fix it. Even with the huge discount I get at HP, the number of messed up machines and other things that have gone on this year have made me question if I want to continue doing business with them or if I want to go back to building my own machines.
With that being said, I recommend everyone check their computer updates for the BIOS updates against Meltdown and Spectre. Spent the better part of today updating all the other computers as well.
YouTube: Archeage 101 on the Title System
This week’s video was on the title system. It was only a very broad overview, there is a ton about the system, about individual titles, and too much stuff to go over everything. Instead, I gave just a little bit of an overview on the subject, which hopefully will lead to questions.
If anyone has any good ideas for some AA101 videos let me know. After 7 months of weekly or more videos, I feel that most of the basics have been covered. That doesn’t mean I’m done, it just means I need to know what people want to learn about.
Archeage 101 Live on Twitch:
Sadly, I had to cancel this week’s show due to the previously mentioned illness. I’m glad I did too. I got back from the doctor’s just after 1100 and I think I slept from the time I cancelled the show until like 2000. That’s a lot of surplus sleep for a guy who doesn’t usually sleep more than 5 hours a day.
This week I shall be back live answering questions and doing some underwater exploring.
Patreon Site - Welcome to the new Sponsor
While we lost a Patron sponsor last month, we picked one up this week. Big thank you to Jywert for sponsoring the Network. Every little bit goes a long way to our next set of goals, which is turning Paradox into an actual business.
Still working on the the distribution method for the 5 Apex. Not the easiest thing in the world to set up given that you can’t gift Apex.
If you want to check out the Paradox Gaming Network Patreon site you can follow this link https://www.patreon.com/paradox_gaming_network or you can click on the Patreon Button on the bottom of the webpage.
Intrepid Studios and Ashes of Creation News
Should be enough information coming out this week that I can put something together this weekend or early next week. Be on the lookout for that.
If you haven’t registered for Ashes of Creation yet and you want to help support the Paradox Gaming Network, follow this link https://www.ashesofcreation.com/ref/Jahlon/ and register for Ashes. We currently have 77 people who have decided to support us via this method and we have at least $126 in Intrepid Bucks that we will end up cashing out and raffling off/giving away to players.
Usually I talk about things coming up with Archeage, and last week I covered the impending removal of permanent Dream Rings and Library Earrings.
This week, I want to bring attention to a thread that one of my fellow creators Qembek put up on the forums at http://forums.archeagegame.com/showthread.php?336540-Creators-Feedback-creators-program-and-social-media-presence
The thing about Archeage is that it has a huge following, and it could be so much bigger and better, but it feels like the Creators are doing more social-media work than Trion is. I’m not going to steal any of Q’s thunder. Go check out that thread, its long, but it's really worth the read.
